Roughly 150 years ago, the old gas works "Gaswerk" provided the Westend of Hamburg with gas light in streets and houses for the first time. Today, the "Gastwerk" or "guestwork" provides the city and its guests with a new attraction at the old place: Hamburg’s first Design Hotel.
The imposing industrial monument of the gas works is the perfect set-up for a surprisingly harmonic set-up of old architecture combined with new design.
